Questions and Answers

Tell us about yourself and your firm, your design style and passion/inspiration:
I am a designer at Karr Bick Kitchen & Bath, specializing in designing “Nothing Ordinary” spaces: kitchens, bathrooms, bars, laundry rooms, and mud rooms - as well as helping to make any space within and outside of a home more functional and beautiful. I’m committed to classic and refined style and am passionate about learning something new from partnerships with my clients. Travel always awakens my senses and heightens my design inspiration. Touring castles in France, staying in historic Bed and Breakfasts in Ireland, taking in the sights of the Greek islands, and visiting the South’s plantation homes are among just a few of the things travel has gifted me, and each of these visits has enhanced my eye for design and taught me to see spaces with more dimension.
Did you run into any challenges with this specific project?
Prior to the home remodel, the kitchen was disconnected from the rest of the house with zero sight line from the kitchen to any other room. This posed a problem for the busy family, as their time at home was often spent in disconnected spaces. We removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room and designed a peninsula with a unique hutch at the end. The combination kept the formality of the dining room but gave us the layout we needed for their everyday family life.
Tell us about why you chose Atlas Hardware’s Browning Pulls and Sutton Cup Pulls for this project:
As far as the materials, we wanted the kitchen to look classic. The most cherished details in the kitchen are the champagne gold hardware and antiqued gold faucet. We thought of these items as jewelry for the kitchen. The gold finish looks beautiful with the blue-ish gray cabinets.
